Framed Original Watercolor Painting of Dutch Village by Florence Vincent Robinson c. 1915

Framed original watercolor painting on paper circa 1915 by Florence Vincent Robinson (American, 1874-1937) with the artist's certified estate stamp on the reverse. This delicate watercolor by Robinson depicts an idyllic scene from the village of Veere in Holland (the Netherlands).

"Robinson established her career as a watercolor painter of picturesque views of scenes in Europe and North Africa, as well as floral and garden subjects. Robinson was born in Taunton, Massachusetts, and grew up near Boston. She broke with her wealthy family over her decision to become a professional artist. Florence moved to Paris, probably around 1890, where she studied painting with James Abbott McNeil Whistler, among others. She was commissioned to paint many distinguished American gardens, including those of Mrs. E. H. Harriman, Mrs. J. P. Morgan, Mrs. H. H. Rogers, Mrs. John Hayes Hammond, and others. Although her works were received enthusiastically by critics, Robinson seems not to have been very widely known and remains a relatively obscure figure today." (Source: Southhampton History Museum)
